You’ve most likely heard the term, but what is cold-pressed juice and is it better?

It is juice that has been extracted from fruits and vegetables by using a hydraulic juice press machine. It applies an enormous amount of pressure to extract all of the juice from produce. There is no heat involved. This is an important distinction from juice that is made from other common methods. A centrifugal juicer, which is the more common, and much less expensive method, involves fast-spinning metal blades which heat up and shear the produce.

This is the most important factor to remember. Cold-press machines use no sharp blades or heat, while centrifugal methods use fast-spinning metal blades that heat up to shear the produce. Pure and simple, heat and oxidation kill enzymes.

The cold-pressed method is far superior in keeping the nutrients in your juice because there is no heat or oxidation used. With juice made from a hydraulic cold press method, you receive the greatest amounts of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes as possible. Let’s talk about the taste difference too! Side by side, it is visibly cleaner and smoother with no chunks, foam or pulp. It tastes clean and smooth. The indigestible parts of the produce have been removed, leaving the most flavorful juice. With cold-pressed, you’re getting juice the way nature intended – simple, raw and memorable with maximum nutrients.

What are some specific health benefits?

Detox

Cold-pressed juice has the ability to detoxify your body of the toxins we’re exposed to every day. This is the reason for the popularity of juice cleanses – to “detox” the liver, kidney and skin which are our toxin-fighting organs. Drinking cold-pressed juice can help you release the stress of these organs and result in better health. Noticeable benefits may include, but are not limited to feeling more energetic, decreased bloating, and even weight loss. Cold-pressed juice also lasts longer than traditional blade methods of juicing, making it the superior choice for your juice cleanses, or just to have available at home.

Absorption Rate

Raw juice is digested quickly, making it one of the fastest ways to absorb vitamins, minerals and enzymes. A person would simply not be able to consume the same volume of produce per day in non-juice form.

Weight Loss & Hydration

With a juice cleanse, people typically see water weight loss along with other benefits such as a

stronger immune system and better digestion. The live enzymes in juice are a great aid to the digestion process while re-hydrating the body.

Reduce Cravings

The only sugars in raw, cold-pressed juices are those which are naturally occurring in fruit and vegetables. Be sure to always check ingredient labels. Many people are surprised how delicious the taste of raw, cold-pressed juice is without any added sugars.

Drinking cold-pressed juice regularly can lead to overall better health, especially combined with exercise.

What are Juice Wellness Shots? These are typically 2 ounces of concentrated juices made from ingredients known to have beneficial nutrients such as lemon, ginger, apple cider vinegar and often contain added healthy spices such as turmeric or cayenne pepper. They’re designed to give you a quick and concentrated dose of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants.

Here are some final tips when looking for the best, fresh juice. Ask for a sample. You should be able to see a vibrant and clear juice that tastes smooth and clean. Ask about the juicing method and if it has been pasteurized. If it has been pasteurized, then it’s not considered fresh. Ask if it has any added sugars or if it is the produce only. If you’re not planning to drink it the same day, ask what the expiration date is.
