As a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD), I actively search for ways to help patients live their best life.  Quality of life is a major concern for many, and poses real challenges to maintain (and, define) as it is multi-factorial and individually subjective.  What is NOT uncommon, though, are the diminishing “signs and symptoms” of the patients that seek my guidance and expertise.

Raise your hand if you experience one or more of the following:

  • Fatigue/Poor Quality Sleep
  • Digestive Issues
  • Difficulty loosing weight or keeping weight on
  • Anxiety/ Depression
  • Impaired Immune Function (auto-immune, chronic infection, etc)
  • Muscle or joint pain
  • Poor sex drive/low libido

If you raised your hand, you are not alone.  These signs and symptoms are reflective of internal changes or an abnormal response you are experiencing due to stress.  When these same symptoms linger and last longer than a few months, recovery efforts by the body are impaired, and you may need some help with recovery.  This is where Peptide Therapy is indicated and can provide the help to reset the body and recover your best life!

What are Peptides?  Peptides are short amino acid chains that control many functions in the body.  These peptides can be linked together to form proteins. Some peptides occur naturally, and others are synthesized in a lab. The body uses these peptides as “signaling molecules” to promote cell-to-cell communications. The inter- and intra-cellular communication helps to up-regulation or down-regulation cellular function.  This property of the peptides can be harnessed and used to promote specific and individualized therapeutic effects.

What is Peptide Therapy? Peptide therapy is the targeted use of physician prescribed peptides to elicit a very specific response in your body.  Some peptides have been shown to assist with weight loss by stimulating breakdown of visceral fat. Others reduce inflammation and stimulate the body’s own endogenous healing ability by stimulating human growth hormone.  Still other peptides can be utilized to slow or stop premature aging, modulate pain, improve skin appearance (fine lines and wrinkles), and address/improve muscle mass, improve cognitive function, and slow or reverse bone loss.  Peptides can be administered through the skin as subcutaneous (SQ) injections, topical creams/foams, nasal sprays or in oral capsule forms.

Who May Benefit?    Those suffering from chronic inflammation, autoimmune disease and other chronic degenerative diseases may also benefit by including peptides in their treatment regimen. Peptide Therapy may also help regulate processes within the body for patients with neuropathic pain and neurologic changes following Traumatic Brain Injuries, Strokes, Mold Exposures and/or Lyme Disease.

In recent years, the use of peptides in health care has gained a great deal of momentum. Peptide Therapy is generally considered safe, produces very specific results and has little to no side effects.  Many peptides have been approved by the FDA allowing them to be used for medical trials and regular use in the outpatient setting.
