Community Health Center of Yavapai is pleased to welcome Dr. Kenna Stephenson. Dr. Stephenson received her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with Research Honors from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. She completed a medical student clinical research fellowship program with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Her residency program was conducted at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center. Dr. Stephenson is board-certified in family medicine and a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Stephenson is passionate about community and rural medicine. As a founding member of Team 5 Medical Foundation, she is committed to bringing health education, medical and dental care to austere and overlooked regions of the world. She previously served as the Associate Medical Director at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Tucson and as Medical Director of Women’s Health and Employee Health in academic and veterans medical centers in Texas. Her clinical research includes the landmark study on bio-identical compounded hormones in peri/postmenopausal women, cardiovascular pharmacology, biomarkers of healthy aging, and holistic interventions of yoga, sand tray, energy medicine, and botanical therapies. Dr. Stephenson has received international recognition for her teaching, research, and publications, which have been featured in Family Practice News, Cardiology News, Medscape, and WebMD. In addition to her groundbreaking clinical work, she has served as a health expert for CBS, NBC, and Paramount Pictures. Her book, Awakening Athena: Resilience, Restoration and Rejuvenation offers unique insight into women’s health and holistic medicine. Her guidebook, written for patients and providers, encourages: Even our most traumatic experiences do not sentence us to a life of misery and failure.
