What are your dinner plans for the week?
Check out Dignity Health, Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s (YRMC’S) Your Healthy Kitchen blog (YRMCHealthconnect.org/Your-Healthy-Kitchen) for delicious, affordable and of course, healthy recipes. But there’s more to Your Healthy Kitchen than what you see on your plate.
“Teaching people how to cook simple, nutritious, and delicious meals is one goal,” says Rita Carey Rubin, host of YRMC’s Your Healthy Kitchen. “We showcase locally grown, seasonal foods whenever possible and demonstrate how easy and affordable it can be to eat well.”
The recipes Rita prepares on YRMC’s Your Healthy Kitchen are nutritionally balanced. They promote wellbeing and prevent chronic illness. You can take Rubin’s word on that. She’s a registered dietitian who also has chef’s training.
YRMC’s Your Healthy Kitchen is an excellent source for information about what local farmers are growing. She shares information on gardening in our long – but often unpredictable – growing season.
“We also shine a light on our Dignity Health, YRMC providers who are doing great work helping people with diabetes, heart disease, cancer and dementia,” Rubin says.
During a recent episode, Rubin and Sam Downing, MD, Director of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at Dignity Health, YRMC, prepared a tasty, brain-cell boosting meal. Another episode featured the important role a fiber-rich diet seems to play in breast cancer prevention.
